Peter Murphy Has Fantastic Showing Against The Outlaws!
|
Murphy Looks Strong in Outlaw Outing
By Gary Costa
Tulare, Ca., (March 20-21, 2009) – Racing is full of unknown's; especially in the rough and tumble world of Sprint Car racing. Murphy, who wasn't going to race at Tulare's Thunderbowl Raceway, had an unbelievable weekend against the traveling World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series this past weekend.
With his desire and passion to race, Peter methodically thrashed throughout Thursday night and Friday morning to ready the Rick Eberhardt owned mount against a host of heavy-hitters.
"I wasn't even going to go. But the closer that the race got, that fire that a driver gets started burning deep inside of me. At that point, I had to make it there. I wasn't going to give up!"
With "lucky" No. 13 plastered on the un-painted wing, and no stickers on the body, the team loaded up the car and headed for the Thunderbowl Raceway.
The car wasn't pretty by any stretch of the imagination. A quick stop by Steve Kinser confirmed that fact as he brought laughs as "The King" made comments about the No.13 on the wing and the un-stickered car.

Murphy Scores Top-3 Finish in Opener By Gary Costa
Hanford, Ca, (March 14, 2009) – Clovis, Ca, pilot, Peter Murphy showed that he didn't get too "rusty" during the off-season. Murphy, piloting the Tom Tarlton No. 21 took 3rd in the opening night 30-lapper in the newly formed "West Coast 360 Sprint Car Series".
"I'm real proud of my team. We didn't finish where we wanted too, but it's still a good start to the '09 season," Murphy said. "We will look to move up a couple of spots in our next race."
"I would also like to congratulate Jace (Vanderweerd 1st) on his win, and Justyne (Hamblin 2nd), they ran a good race and continue to improve every night out. I would also like to thank all the fans that came out to watch us race. Without them, none of this would be possible."

Peter Murphy Clinches 2nd Grand Slam Series Title!
By Gary Costa
Ventura, CA – August 23rd ….Clovis, Ca Sprint car veteran, Peter Murphy clinched his 2nd Grand Slam Series Championship in Tom Tarlton's well prepared Tarlton and Son Inc. Maxim. The series championship was decided at Ventura's racy 1/5-mile speedway.
-Ventura Raceway: Going into the evening, Peter had a 40-point advantage that he needed to protect. The 2005 series champion readied himself as he idled around the track surface; he then proceeded to gas up the Tachi Palace Hotel & Casino, Tarlton and Son Inc., Ridgeline Framing, Kaeding Performance, Shark Powered #21 around the speedway for heat race action. Peter didn't make it out of his heat, so he had to get it done the hard way, by winning the 2nd Semi Main.
The 30-lap main event would have Peter start in the 17th spot on the grid in the Sharp Insurance, VMAC, BR Motorsports, Fresno First Bank, Matt & Glass, Pro Signs, Tom Tarlton owned Maxim. Peter moved into the 10th spot, but got caught up in an accident.
The shunt would send Peter to the back of the 30-lap affair. Peter was doing all that he could with the beaten and battered race car, and finished a disappointing 16th.

Hanford, CA – August 16th….Peter Murphy and the Tarlton and Son Inc., Sprint car team loaded up and made the short trip down the road to Kings Speedway to race with the Bandit 360 Non-Wing Sprint cars. Peter, who is the Bandit point's leader, had his sights set on stretching his points lead even further.
To say that the team is hitting on all cylinders right now would be a huge understatement. Peter is extremely confident every time that the car hits the race track, and all of us at Peter Murphy Racing contribute that to having such dedicated and hard working people in our camp.
-Kings Speedway: Rolling through the gate, Peter was still dealing with a bit of nagging lower back pain suffered from a heat race shunt a couple of weeks back. Never one to complain, the talented and versatile driver cinched the belts tight, threw on the helmet, tightened the chin strap, then proceeded to take the Tachi Palace Hotel & Casino, Tarlton and Son Inc., Ridgeline Framing, Kaeding Performance, Shark Powered #21 around the tricky speedway for hot laps.

Murphy Runs with the Wing and Without. Picks Up Win in Bandit Sprint Car Action!
|
Fresno, CA – August 2nd & 3rd…The versatile driver from Clovis not only pulled double-duty this past weekend, but he did it in a Winged 410 Sprint car and a 360 Non-Winged Sprint car. Friday, Peter and the team made the long trek up to Silver Dollar Speedway in Chico, to "raise cain" in the Rick Eberhardt owned #4x mount. The next day, he would be off to Kings Speedway in Hanford and would shed the wing and race the Tom Tarlton owned #21. -Silver Dollar Speedway: After mashing the gas in hot laps, the crew made some adjustments to the Maxim and went out to qualify. Peter qualified in the 8th spot. In Heat #1, Peter was familiarizing himself with the wing again and promptly brought home a 2nd place finish. Peter was scheduled to start outside of row #1 for the main event, but was sent to the back with the inside front row starter, after a couple of failed starts. Never one to give up, Peter was on the loud pedal and worked himself into an 8th place main event finish. -Kings Speedway: After the long tow from Chico the previous night, it was time to head to Hanford to race in Bandit 360 competition. Peter entered the gate, focused and looking to increase his points lead. With the wing off, it only took the versatile shoe a few laps to get used to not having the added down force in hot laps. After qualifying in the 6th spot, it was Heat #3 that would be our first race. In the heat, Peter got into a hole and launched the car up into the air. When the car came crashing down, he ended up slightly injured. Never one to give up, he crawled back into the mount and finished what he set out to do, and he ended coming home 4th. Even after being jolted in the heat race, Peter sucked it up, and went out and won the main event. -Up Next For PMR! Peter Murphy will be at Santa Maria Speedway, August 9th for more Bandit Sprint car action. The team will be seeking their 9th series win in Tom Tarlton's #21. -Peter Murphy Racing would like to thank: The Tachi Palace Hotel & Casino, Tarlton and Son Inc., Ridgeline Framing, Kaeding Performance, Shark Racing Engines, Sharp Insurance, VMAC, BR Motorsports, Fresno First Bank, Matt & Glass and Pro Signs. Peter Murphy Wins 2nd Strait Main Event!
|
By Gary Costa
Fresno, Ca – May 16th & 17th, 2008…The Tom Tarlton-owned Sprint cars showed speed once again this past weekend. Tommy Tarlton raced at both Ocean Speedway and Kings Speedway in winged Sprint car action, while Peter Murphy raced the pristine twin #21 non-winged Sprint car at Kings Speedway in the Bandit 360 action.
Ocean Speedway – Tommy was up first with his race at Ocean Speedway in Watsonville. "Double-T" glided the Shark powered Maxim around the speedway, and clocked in with quick time. He then transferred out of heat race #1, which set Tommy to start in the 8th spot in the main event. Tommy brought the car home in the 2nd spot, following the multi-talented and current Wright One 360 point's leader, Bud Kaeding to the checkered flag.
Kings Speedway non-wing Bandit's– Peter Murphy would not let down his car owner and sponsors this night, as he proceeded to hold his end up in the Tom Tarlton owned, Tarlton & Son, Inc. non-wing Sprint car. Peter was seeking two strait Bandit victories, with the last one coming May 10th at Santa Maria Speedway. He qualified 6th quick. He then started last in his heat, and once again, the Shark Racing Engine didn't hesitate to Peter's demands, as he worked his way through the field on the tricky surface, and won the heat. Peter started 2nd in the main event, and never looked back, and proceeded to bring the Team Tarlton crew their 2nd consecutive Bandit Sprint car win.
"It's my pleasure to drive for the Tarlton's," Peter said. "I would like to thank everyone involved with this team. It was another good showing for Team Tarlton this weekend!"

Peter Murphy Delivers Mothers Day Wish For Mom!
|
By Gary Costa
Bakersfield, Ca – May 10, 2008…Peter Murphy doesn’t need any motivation to win races, but this night was to be a special one. With some downtime in between races, Peter called his mother back in Australia to wish her a happy mother’s day. Mom replied, “You better win me this race for mother’s day!” And like the good son that he is, he didn’t want to disappoint his mom.
The Tarlton & Son, Inc. non-wing #21 was ready to do battle in Bandit Sprint car action at Bakersfield’s bullring spearheaded by “Big” Jason Wheelock.
The car was fast right out of the box, and with Shark power, he out qualified the field. Peter proceeded to finish a quiet 3rd in his heat, but come main event time he was focused and ready to wage war on the other competitors.
